Trump warns China not to retaliate against tariff hike

Trump warns China not to retaliate against tariff hike U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday warned China not to retaliate against a hike in tariffs he imposed last week and said U.S. consumers would not pay for any increase in duties. There "is no reason for the U.S. Consumer to pay the Tariffs, which take effect on China today ... China should not retaliate-will only get worse!" Trump tweeted, adding that tariffs can be avoided if manufacturers shift production from China to other countries.

The UAE said it will "retaliate hard" if Yemen's Huthi rebels attack civilian facilities, a day after rebels claimed drone attacks that shut down a key Saudi oil pipeline.

"We will retaliate and we will retaliate hard when we see Huthis hitting civilian targets like what happened in Saudi Arabia," the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs, Anwar Gargash, told journalists in Dubai.

Monitor says no evidence of new Syria chemical attack.
A British-based war monitor said Wednesday it had no evidence to suggest the Syrian army had carried out a new chemical attack despite Washington's announcement it had suspicions. "We have no proof at all of the attack," Rami Abdul Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP. "We have not documented any chemical attack in the mountains of Latakia," he said.
