Driver charged in crash that killed couple heading to wedding in Pittsburgh Authorities say a truck driver has been charged with vehicular homicide in a fiery crash last fall that killed a couple driving to their wedding in Pittsburgh. State police say 24-year-old Jaspreet Singh Chahal of Frenso, California is also charged with reckless endangering and summary counts including careless and reckless driving in the Nov. 14 crash on Interstate 78. The Reading Eagle reports that police in Berks County allege that he was distracted by a cellphone conversation and didn't see traffic stopped ahead of him before striking another vehicle, killing 35-year-old Kathryn Schurtz of Jersey City, New Jersey and her fiance, 42-year-old Joseph Kearney.

TEGUCIGALPA (Reuters) - Five foreign tourists, four of them Canadians, died on Saturday after a private plane they were traveling in crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from the island of Roatán, near the Atlantic coast of Honduras, local authorities said.

Local emergency services said they could not immediately confirm the nationality of the other person who died in the accident or the cause of the crash.

The plane was headed to the tourist port city of Trujillo, about 80 kilometers (49.71 miles) from Roatan, a picturesque island frequented by tourists from the United States, Canada and Europe, authorities said.

The make of the plane was a Piper PA-32-260, local authorities said. Piper Aircraft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tuesday's crash is just one day after a plane crash killed two people in Metlakatla Harbor, Alaska. The plane in that was operated by Taquan Air.  Last week, a midair collision of sightseeing planes near Ketchikan left six people dead. The aircraft in that incident were operated by Taquan Air and Mountain Air Service.
