China to Boost Shenzhen’s Role in Greater Bay Area Innovation China plans to let Shenzhen City, which borders Hong Kong, play “a key role” in science and technology innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, according to state media. Shenzhen will be granted favorable policies including privileges in yuan internationalization, China Central Television reported on Sunday, citing guidelines issued by the Chinese Communist Party central committee and the State Council. China will also promote the connection of the financial markets of Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau, including with regards to fund recognition. No details were provided.

Fujian [ China ], Aug 25 (ANI): Typhoon Bailu made landfall in China ' s Fujian on Sunday morning, according to Chinese state media. More than 14, 000 people have been evacuated while nearly 10, 000 ships have been recalled in the Chinese province, according to Xinhua.

Chinese meteorological services said the typhoon made landfall shortly after noon Friday in Shanwei in Guangdong province, packing winds of up to 166 kilometers (103 miles) per hour before weakening to a tropical storm . China suspended dozens of flights and rail services in several southern provinces.

More than 48,000 people were evacuated before Typhoon Bailu made landfall in China early Sunday, China's state media agency Xinhua reported.

As many as 9,926 fishing vessels were also moved before the typhoon hit eastern China's Fujian Province with maximum sustained winds of 90 kph (56 mph), Xinhua said.

"According to the disaster prediction, we have prepared rescue teams and equipment in key areas -- 356 technical teams, 297 construction squads, 141 rescue boats, and 75 rubber dinghies as well as materials such as life jackets and buoys," said Xie Dongming, a flood prevention official in the city of Zhangzhou.

The typhoon made landfall in Taiwan on Saturday.

The regulatory body in charge of cars in China has announced several Tesla vehicles will be exempt from an upcoming tariff. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology granted exemptions for more than a dozen Model 3, Model S and Model X models. Earlier this month, China said it would reinstate some car tariffs it paused in April, including a 25 percent levy on vehicles from the US and a five percent tariff on auto parts. They're set to come into force December 15th as part of a wave of tariffs China announced in response to the latest US round of levies on imports from the Asian superpower.
