'Crippling blizzard' heads for upper Midwest

A sprawling snowstorm is sweeping across the West, threatening to develop into an "all-out blizzard" over North and South Dakota. Some areas already saw temperatures drop 50 degrees in 24 hours. Heavy snow was falling on the northern Rockies and was moving southeastward along with a charge of cold air, AccuWeather said. Winds were expected to increase into Friday, and blowing and drifting snow could force some roads to close down as conditions deteriorate.
