Five years into her term as Paris mayor, Anne Hidalgo is poised to officially launch her campaign A survey by the Ifop polling firm, released in late March, placed her on top in the elections’ first round From that perspective, Anne Hidalgo has some ground to make up,” said political scientist Bruno

Boosted by big sustainability wins, Mayor Anne Hidalgo is pitching bold plans to make the city center “100 percent bicycle” and turn office space into housing. In Paris 's two - round process of elimination system, she will still likely prevail as the candidate of the left due to disarray amongst her opponents.

Hidalgo convinces macronist voters of 2017 more than Buzyn

Difficult to imagine what could disturb Hidalgo's second-round campaign: it seduces the different categories of voters in a homogeneous manner. And even more convincing the macronist supporters of 2017 than the candidate LREM (47% intend to give her their vote, against 34% in Buzyn)… Another positive sign for the social-ecological alliance: 56% of Parisians still cite the environmental issue as a determinant of their vote.

Without having been able to create a united anti-Hidalgo front, Rachida Dati "will have trouble finding reserves of votes", explains Frédéric Dabi, deputy director general of Ifop. The upcoming campaign could however be an opportunity for the right to convince the abstainers in the first round: 42% say they are ready to vote Dati. Buzyn, it, progresses little compared to March 15, and attracts neither among the villagers (mostly pro-Hidalgo) nor among the categories traditionally favorable to macronism.
