The French Luce Douady († 16) was considered one the emerging talents of climbing. She should make her country proud at the Olympics in 2024. But now all of France and all fans of this sport mourn the young woman. As reported on "bild.de", among other things, Luce was killed in an mountain accident.

Luce Douady was considered a great Olympic hope

Luce Douady was a real exceptional talent. Already as a child, she was enthusiastic about climbing and soon made a name for herself with her extraordinary abilities. Even in her youth competitions, she regularly climbed to first place. Her prime discipline was bouldering, i.e. free climbing without a rope. In September 2019, she became youth world champion in this discipline in the hall. Last year she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Edinburgh, when she had already switched to professional football. And it was considered a great hope for medals for the 2014 Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris. But fate wanted it differently.

Luce crashed to a depth of 150 meters

But now Luce is dead. As confirmed by the World Climbing Association IFSC, she was the victim of a climbing accident on Sunday, June 14th. She had climbed a wall with friends in the climbing area of Saint-Pancrasse near Grenoble. There it slipped at an exposed point and fell about 150 meters below.

France and the sports world mourn and fans condolences on Douady's Facebook page. As a representative, a follower is quoted here who writes: "She left the way she lived: by biting into life." Despite all the comforting words, this tragic fate leaves many fans and friends of Luce Douady stunned.
