Will François Fillon be sent to prison?
No As no warrant was attached to his prison sentence, the former Prime Minister left the court free. The former Prime Minister also appealed,: however, in French law, the appeal is suspensive of the sentence, the sentence can therefore only be applied if it is confirmed in a second trial.
If these two years in prison were confirmed, François Fillon could however go to prison: until March 24, the judges had the option of adjusting the prison terms less than or equal to 2 years. The date of the Fillon couple's appeal trial has not yet been announced. But according to the judge, it will not be held before 2021. The hearings, already disrupted before the coronavirus crisis, were even more so with it.newsletter ->
