HONG KONG (Reuters) - Joshua Wong, a leading figure in the Hong Kong democracy movement, was arrested by Chinese territory police on Thursday for participating in a protest banned in 2019 and violated local mask-wearing guidelines, according to a post on his Twitter account.

Police, for their part, announced the arrest of two men aged 23 and 74 for illegal assembly on October 5, 2019, without naming names.

The arrest of 23-year-old Joshua Wong comes some six weeks after that of local media mogul Jimmy Lai on charges of collusion with foreign forces. Jimmy Lai is 71 years old.

Joshua Wong was only 17 when he became one of the leading figures in the "Umbrella Movement", a campaign of pro-democracy protests in 2014.
