Paris police already faced accusations of excess force this week when they cleared out an illegal migrant campsite in a central Paris square. The alleged beating also came amid controversy over a draft law that would limit journalists' ability to show images of French police officers at work.

After the beating of an music producer in Paris by police officers , Emmanuel Macron spoke this Friday on Facebook. In a long message, the head of state denounces images that "make us ashamed" and asks for "an exemplary police ".
The President of the Republic asks the government to make “proposals” to “fight against discrimination”. An IGPN investigation is underway and four police officers involved were taken into custody on Friday. As of Thursday, they had been suspended from their functions and the Minister of the Interior had, even before their hearing, assured that he would demand their dismissal from the police "as soon as the facts are established by justice".
Released on social networks by the Loopsider site, a first video, seen more than 11 million times, shows the victim, Michel Zecler, beaten for long minutes by uniformed police officers in the entrance of a studio of music from the 17th arrondissement of the capital.
