The eased restrictions apply to communities within Designated Biosecurity Areas, but these areas will remain closed to all non-essential workers The easing of the two-person rule means boot camps and some other forms of group exercise will be allowed again providing physical distancing is maintained.
Union parliamentary group leader Ralph Brinkhaus (CDU) thinks it is likely that the current corona restrictions will have to be tightened again. "For Christmas and New Year's Eve, it is very ambitious to promise easing now," said Brinkhaus, referring to the latest federal-state resolutions in the "Passauer Neue Presse" on Saturday. "This is extremely ambitious, especially for New Year's Eve."
Brinkhaus advised "first wait and see how the corona situation develops at the beginning of December". He thinks possible easing at Christmas is more important than on New Year's Eve. "Christmas is very important to many people. It is the feast of the family. And by the way, it is also a Christian celebration." New Year's Eve is "above all a party - that is also important, but not as important as Christmas".
A top round from the federal and state governments decided on Wednesday to tighten the current contact restrictions again from the beginning of December. According to the decision, more encounters should be possible again over Christmas and New Year's Eve.
