Some natives have been walking since last week. They arrived from the South and the North of the country in a capital where 11,000 municipal agents, police officers and soldiers were mobilized to avoid possible incidents.
Everyone, like MP-elect Salvador Quishpe, disputes the official figures. “There is no logic in the results,” he says. We, the elected members of the Pachakutik movement, together obtained a percentage of votes much higher than that of our presidential candidate. How to explain it? It doesn't stick.
Coming in third with a minimal difference to Guillermo Lasso, Yaku Pérez claims he was stolen by two or three votes in at least 16,000 polling stations. He criticizes the electronic system of the National Electoral Council, as does Salvador Quishpe: “All this proves that there was fraud. This is why we are asking that the ballot boxes be opened and the votes recounted, one by one. And that whoever loses support the other in the second round.
The natives threaten to rise up if the electoral authority does not respond to their demands.
