World USA and China Together against climate change
The truth behind companies' 'net zero' climate commitments
Going green is in fashion — but are corporate claims of going green reliable? What do these corporate pronouncements mean? Imagine you want to use your tax refund to buy stock and you pick the oil industry giant BP because you learn the company has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2050. Or suppose you are a young professional deciding whether to accept a job offer from the consumer products giant Amazon, impressed by the company's claims that it is "committed to" sustainability.
The USA and China are responsible for nearly half of the world's newly expelled greenhouse gases. Now they want to work together against the urgent problem.
China and the USA agree that before the next international climate conference at the end of the year in Glasgow Commitment to combat climate change should be strengthened. This was announced by the Chinese Ministry of the Environment after a meeting between the Chinese Climatic Approach Xie Zhenhua and its US colleague John Kerry in Shanghai on Thursday and Friday.
Opinion: California wildfires. Hurricanes on the coast. Is anywhere safe from the climate crisis?
After visiting Tracy, a woman in California who is ready to flee her dream house to escape wildfires and other effects of climate catastrophe, John Sutter traveled halfway across the country, to Duluth, Minnesota to try to answer her question: Where can she go? Is anywhere safe? It turns out, Tracy isn't alone in asking the question.Tracy thought she'd built her forever home. She and her 5-year-old granddaughter live in an energy-efficient house in Northern California that Tracy designed — by a pond that's frequented by otters, ducks and herons (oh my!).
Strict Safety Precautions
"The United States and China undertake to cooperate with each other and with other countries to cope with the climate crisis," says in the Joint Declaration. The two countries would continue the dialogue on concrete measures to reduce emissions in the 2020s to comply with the temperature limit for global warming set out in the Paris Climate Agreement. The US and China, the two largest economies in the world, are responsible for nearly half of the world's newly expelled greenhouse gases.
The American Climate Officer John Kerry arrived on Wednesday under strict safety precautions in China. It was the first visit of a high-ranking representative of the American government since US President Joe Biden his office Antrat.
What's at Stake in U.S. Climate Envoy John Kerry's Trip to China
Washington's climate envoy becomes the first senior Biden administration official to visit China—but he does so at a time of high tensionChina and the U.S. are the world’s top two carbon polluters, accounting for 27% and 13% of global greenhouse emissions in 2019, respectively. Their close cooperation is essential if the world is to mitigate the effects of climate change, be it wildfires in California or heat and drought in Australia and melting polar ice.
virtual climate summit next week
The journey of the former Foreign Minister Kerry also served the preparation of a virtual climate mandrel organized by the USA on the 22nd and 23rd of April, to which China's head of state Xi Jinping is invited.
His predecessor Donald Trump had led the US from the Parisian Climate Protection Agreement of 2015 and the United States thus made an outsider with the climate policy international. Biden returned immediately to the agreement after his term of office in January.

Fact check: Scientific consensus says humans are dominant cause of climate change .
A Facebook user claims man-made climate change is a hoax. That is false.“The science is undeniable,” Biden said during the April 22 summit. “The cost of inaction keeps mounting.
