Two flights per week

Iranian civil aviation had announced the interruption of flights to Kabul on August 16 for security reasons, in the aftermath of the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan. Previously, this company insured two flights a week between Machhad and Kabul.

Mahan Air, second Iranian company after the public company Iran Air, is on the black list of entities covered by US sanctions against Iran since 2011.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Islamic Republic welcomes more than 3.46 million Afghans , vast majority of refugees, more than 4% of the country's population.
