Texans' Deshaun Watson out vs. Jaguars; absence 'not injury related'

Texans' Deshaun Watson out vs. Jaguars; absence 'not injury related' Journeyman veteran Tyrod Taylor has served as Houston's unofficial and, later, official QB1 since joining the Texans in March. Watson, meanwhile, wishes to be traded and has been linked with potential buyers such as the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins but is still facing 22 lawsuits alleging acts of sexual assault and misconduct and 10 criminal complaints. Watson is neither suspended nor is he unavailable via the commissioner's exempt list, but it's believed he will be a paid healthy scratch for each of Houston's games until there is more clarity about the ongoing cases against him.

Any pick-six is a notable event, but it’s particularly remarkable to see one player record two interceptions for touchdowns in a single game. That’s what Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ safety Mike Edwards did Sunday in a 48-25 home win against the Atlanta Falcons, though. And both of his picks came in the fourth quarter. Here’s the first one, where Edwards jumped a route, knocked the ball up, caught it, and took it back for a touchdown, boosting the Bucs’ lead to 17 points:

And here’s Edwards’ second pick-six, which came on a blitz after teammate Carlton Davis III tipped a pass from Matt Ryan up. Edwards hauled it in and went the distance:

Edwards, a third-round pick out of Kentucky in the 2019 NFL draft, has made several notable interceptions so far in his pro career, including a key one against the Saints’ Drew Brees in a divisional round playoff game this January. But two pick-sixes in one quarter of one game is particularly remarkable.

Denzel Mims still getting very strange treatment from Jets .
Figure this one out. The Jets are rebuffing trade inquiries for Mims, but they also are not giving him any playing time.Mims has seen just three snaps in the first two weeks of the season, and was inactive for Week 2. Mims is likely to be inactive for Week 3 as well, but according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Jets remain high on the young receiver and have even turned down trade inquiries.
