Berlin, 25 November (Reuters) - The European Union must be ready To take new sanctions against Russia if the situation in the east of Ukraine or at the border between Belarus and Poland worsen, said the German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Thursday.
Speaking at a Joint Press Conference in Berlin with its Polish counterpart Moutusz Morawiecki, Angela Merkel said the EU should be united about the issues of "militarization" migrants by Belarus against Poland and the Deploying troops by Russia near its border with Ukraine.
"Any new aggression against the sovereignty of Ukraine would have a high price," said Chancellor, adding that de-escalation should always be the preferred option. (Thomas Escritt report, French version Matthieu Protard, published by Jean-Michel Bélot)
