In a tragic case of youth violence, a week has passed since a shooting in northeast Bexar County that took the life of 15-year-old Tamarion Grant. New information has been released concerning the suspect’s initial court appearance.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially identified Tamarion as the victim of this unfortunate incident, with his death being ruled as homicide due to a gunshot.

On Monday, the 15-year-old suspect made a court appearance before Judge Jacqueline Valdés in the 386th Juvenile District Court. Judge Valdés determined that the teenager should remain in custody, emphasizing the potential risk he presents to himself and others. The next hearing is scheduled for October 27.

Initially, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office mistakenly reported both teenagers as being 14 years old, but it was later clarified that they are both 15.

The shooting occurred on October 10, around Woodlake Parkway and Lakeview Drive. Law enforcement received a 911 call just past 11 a.m. after Tamarion was discovered with wounds. Tragically, he died later at Brooke Army Medical Center from injuries caused by a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Shortly after the incident, investigators found the suspect approximately half a mile away on Silent Lake Drive. Authorities reported that he had changed his clothes and disposed of the firearm while fleeing the scene.

The weapon was subsequently recovered, and the suspect’s family has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

As of now, law enforcement officials have yet to establish a clear motive or circumstances leading to this violent occurrence.

Sheriff Javier Salazar expressed his condolences, characterizing this event as a heartbreaking example of the violence today’s youth face, resulting in one teenager’s death and serious consequences for another.
